Counseling, Professional

Check your local telephone directory yellow pages under “Counselors”; “Physicians (Psychiatry)”.
Services: Provides counseling to help meet your mental health needs, evaluations and counseling for emotional problems. The counseling services should provide you with information that will help you know what services and procedures they provide and what some of your responsibilities are. All aspects of service provided to you should be held in the strictest confidence, in accordance with legal and ethical practice. Psychological counseling is a unique relationship between the client and the counselor in which the client is provided with an environment for enhanced self-understanding. The counseling process will work best if you are as open and honest about your feelings as possible, including your feelings about counseling and your counselor. Often the feelings you have during counseling sessions are critically important. If counseling doesn’t seem to be working for you, it is important that you discuss this with your counselor or seek another counselor.
Cost: Be sure to ask the counselor what their fees are, as costs vary.

Domestic and Sexual Violence Services of Carbon County (DSVS)

Services: Emergency shelter, transport, food and other support and Assistance for survivors of domestic violence and their children, as well as for survivors of sexual assault; one-on-one crisis counseling support and education for survivors; support groups; hospital, police and court accompaniment for survivors of violence. DSVS also provides education and outreach with schools and civic organizations focusing on domestic violence, sexual assault, date rape, teen dating violence, primary prevention of domestic and sexual violence; professional in-service training for the medical community, social workers, clergy, therapists and the business community; volunteer advocate training; speaker’s bureau training; media training; consultation and referral for community professionals.
